Review: Tacet de Mortuis by Amo Jones
Lana's 5 Star Review - Good Reads Review Link
Oh My Gosh!!! This book was everything. It answered so many question but of course it just opened up a whole bunch more with that ending. Amo sure knows how to make an explosive splash with her books.
I have loved Madison and Bishop F*cking Hayes (Madship) since The Silver Swan and their messed up world. The Elite Kings are just that. THE ELITE and KINGS.
I truly enjoyed reading the book from both their perspectives and to see how their minds work through everything. Nothing can hold Madison back and she is one strong young lady. Bishop realizes that Madison is his Queen and does everything he can to keep her safe. While this book is about Madship, it also touches on the other Kings, Tate, Tillie and the parents. I truly cannot wait for the book 4. This book is making my Top Reads for 2018!!!!

Hmmm, I have to admit I am kind of torn on this one. If I had done my review the day I finished it I probably would have given this 5 stars simply because of the rush I had during the last 25% of the book when all the action happened. But the more I sit on this one the more I question it. Let's see if I can break this down a bit more.
The first part of the book was a recap which I appreciated since it's been a minute since The Broken Puppet and there are so many moving parts in this series. But I also felt like that's all we got in the first part of the book, things that were regurgitated from the first two books. So maybe it just needed to be a little less recap and a bit more story to make the flow go a bit better.
Madison. Let's talk about her for a second. Although I am happy she found her backbone in The Broken Puppet and more so in this one I also found her a bit more annoying and showing her age in this one. There is a lot she has to deal with, I get that, but for her to run and keep making the same f'n mistakes over and over got a bit redundant. I get that Nate is her "safe" place but there has to be a line there and she kept crossing it like it didn't matter and then she would feel guilty about it. Okay, well then STOP DOING IT!!! Go shoot a gun if you're that upset. It worked in the first book. You traded a good release for something that did more harm than good.
The one thing Amo had going for her in this one is Bishop. We all know he is the leader of the current generation of Elite Kings and is a bit of a brick wall when it comes to showing his emotions. This book we saw a crack in that armor and got to see a side of Bishop that I wondered was even in there. He wasn't really a fave character of mine in the first two books but I grew to love him in this one. He probably showed the most growth out of all the characters so far and it was fun to watch unfold. And watch him lose a bit of control.
I think the biggest issue I have is that after talking to a couple of my blogger girls we all got a bit confused on some scenes. I don't know if it's because of how they were written or how we interpreted them but maybe they could have been a bit cleaner so there was no confusion, especially since I feel like one of them was a pivotal and pretty important one to the series.
We did get quite a few questions answered in this one but in true Amo fashion there are so many more after the ending. I don't know where we are headed but I'm sure it's going to be a ride.

You guys! I don't even know what to say. #BishopFuckingHayes slayed me. Straight filéted me. I mean I may have more questions than when I started, but I'm so freaking engrossed in this series that I need more. And I've heard I'm going to get it - in the way of a total of 13 books. Amo, you are the Dark Queen and I bow to you!
So, who the hell can think up these things? It's like Hook meets Skulls in a state of crazy. And it's the best crazy out there.
Let's talk peeps - Madison, Bishop, Nate... and the other Kings. Madison runs the gamut of acting her age and acting light years older. Bishop is straight up boss. He's a take no prisoners, determined, SUPER HOTTIE who handles everything. And I mean everything. Nate, well... I'll take him for myself. He's the only I feel has a balance of dark and light.
The recap at the beginning of TaM was necessary for me. It's been so long since I read Broken Puppet that it took me right back to where I needed to put myself in the right headspace to continue. I make this point, because I typically can't stand recaps, but with a series this complex, it's needed for sure.
There were moments when I had to go back and re-read because I felt like I had missed something. I often chalked it up to my reading so fast and probably skipping words, yet there were still some things I had to ask my co-bloggers. This is when I'm totally grateful we read some of the same books.
#BishopFuckingHayes totally sucked me in and tied me up in knots. He kept my heart racing and my mind moving at a rabbits pace to see if I could figure it out before it happened. However, I'm not likely to be able to do that with The Elite Kings. They're just way to OTT to figure it out before it happens.
So if you've been waiting for a good time to start - now's it. Silver Swan, The Broken Puppet and Tacet a Mortuis are ready to be devoured!
Hail to the king, and watch him reign, this game was somewhat fun, until the finale came…
Now we’re here, with carnage and despair, and the only questions left to answer, are the ones that do not appear...
A king loses a war, and a swan sheds her wings, chaos collides with peace, as the crows begin to sing…
Enter if you dare, because I swear the end is near, but nothing is as it seems, and everything is so bare.
So what the f*ck is going on at Riverside,
I think, I think... everyone is about to die....

Amo Jones is a small country girl totally winging this author thing (she's probably doing it all wrong). She likes cake, loves wine, and her religion is magic. She's a profound work-a-holic, but when she's not writing, you can find her chilling with her kids & partner at the nearest beach, with a cocktail in her hand.
