Review: Miss Fix-It by Emma Hart
Lana's 4 Star Review ~ Good Reads Link
Another funny rom-com from Emma Hart.
Kali Hancock is not your typical girl. She a handywoman who carries a drill, hammer and builds things. Brantley Cooper is the single hot dad who needs to have his kids rooms updated and calls on Kali's company to fix it.
Much to his surprise, Brantley is shocked to see that his new handyman is a women. His kids are too. They think it's awesome a girl can build things. His two kids are adorable and you fall in love with them throughout the book. Kali is just what this family needs in more ways than they know. This book had me laughing at the funny things that happen to them while she's redoing the rooms.
Heather's 3.5 Kawi Stars Review
Miss Fix-It is a fun and lighthearted standalone by Emma Hart. Emma is known for her snark, sass and comedic characters who never fail to provide us an escape from real life. Miss Fix-It provides all those same things, except in my opinion the stars of the book are the four year old twins Ellie and Eli.
Don't get me wrong, Kali and Brantley are pretty awesome and obviously attracted to each other, but for me they took a backseat to the troublemakers, crazy antics and sassy siblings. I found myself wanting more and more of Ellie and Eli as the pages turned.
I really liked the book. It was all the things I've come to enjoy from Emma, but I was really hoping for Kali and Brantley to ride shotgun in this story. It didn't feel like that too me, but then again, maybe it was just me.
I wonder if we're going to get more with the kids... Miss E could rule a town with her sass one day!
“Deal with it,” I echoed, my mouth dry. “What exactly do you mean by that?”
He glanced at my mouth.
“Okay, but, um, here’s the thing.” I couldn’t breathe. I sounded like a panting idiot trying to get the words out between each short, sharp breath I took. “This,” I motioned between us, “is bad.”
“Bad.” His lips tugged to the side.
“Yes. Because,”—help. Someone help—“because this isn’t allowed. Company rules. No cavorting with clients.”
“No cavorting with clients.” That half-smile turned into a full-blown grin. “That’s very…proper.”
“Well, I can’t exactly put, “No sleeping with the clients” now, can I?”
“You could have, but it would have been unfortunately precise.”
“I should change that.”
I licked my lips. “You should agree. Because this is—”
“Bad. You said.” More lip twitching.
“I thought you were sorry you made it awkward by kissing me.”
“That was before I found out you were attracted to me. Now, I’m a lot less sorry I kissed you.”
Oh. Well. Fair enough.
“Should I take back my acceptance of your apology?” I asked.
“You should stop talking and see how you feel when I’ve kissed you again.”
